The Peak Series membrane microfilter lasts up to 500 gallons (2,000 liters). This filter is designed to stop working (meaning water will no longer flow through) once it has reached the end of its lifetime.
Connecting to a reservoir - Peak Series Gravity System (3L & 8L)
1. Disconnect. Open the top cap of the LifeStraw Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze Bottle Water Filter System by unscrewing from the body. Remove the filter for use with the new system.
2. Attach. Attach the filter to the LifeStraw Peak Series 3L Gravity Water Filter System by screwing the bottom onto the outside of the neck cap. To do so, make sure the plug cap is already removed from the gravity system. To attach the filter to the LifeStraw Peak Series Gravity Water Filter System - 8L, screw the bottom of the filter to the outside of the cap after first disconnecting the plug cap.
3. Connect. Connect a hose to the end of the filter by attaching to the open end.
4. Ready to Use. Now that your filter and hose are connected, you can let water flow directly out of the filter using gravity. When finished, simply swap the hose out for a plug cap to close off the gravity system until later use.
5. Backwash. When you are finished using, backwash your filter using the backwash syringe to remove excess water inside the filter. Close the caps.
Connecting with the Peak Series Personal Water Filter Straw
1. Unscrew. Open the bottom cap of the LifeStraw Peak Series Personal Water Filter Straw by unscrewing from the body.
2. Disassemble. Remove the filter from the Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze Bottle by unscrewing from the top cap. Remove the mouthpiece from the top cap and store somewhere secure.
3. Connect. Attach your LifeStraw Peak Series Personal Water Filter Straw to the top cap by screwing bottom of the filter into the now open top cap where the mouthpiece sits.
4. Fill. Open the neck cap of the squeeze bottle. Fill with water.
5. Ready to Use. Now that your LifeStraw Peak Series Personal Water Filter Straw is attached, you can drink directly from the collapsible squeeze bottle by pulling in water.
6. Backwash. When you are finished using, blow air through the moutpiece to remove excess water inside the filter. Close the caps.
From the third day I used it, the bag started leaking just where the hard plastic neck is attached to the soft plastic bag. Applying pressure (compressing the bag) only made the leak worse, which is very impractical because the water squirts out when compressing and leaks out quietly when it's put down.
Considering I bought this filter system and peak series squeeze bottle on the way from a multi-day trek abroad, I cannot easily contact the store where I got it from. Therefore, I am emailing the customer service already for 6 months, without any solution. Just the message: "At this time we are still out of the Peak Squeeze 1L in both colors. I have reached out to our local distributor but are also still awaiting inventory replenishment."
Is it possible to exchange the broken squeeze bottle with a new one (which hopefully will not leak after 2 days of use)?
If this is not feasible, I would like to discuss a refund or other proposals. I hope to get a constructive answer soon. Kind regards.
Loved the design and bought for a full autonomy trip but not very good material. Broken on day 1. It just slipped off my hands and fell from a short distance on the floor but this was enough to break the plastic on the top, making it unusable. Very disappointed as I needed to stop my trip (filtering water was essential). I can't understand how something that is thought to be for outdoor adventures and that expensive, can be that fragile.
Rui and Rita, from Portugal, spent 10 days independently in the Swedish forests and lakes doing the Bergslagsleden hiking trail. A region with lots of water, but also without many places along the trail with water suitable for consumption. The filter worked perfectly and was very useful for filling other bottles. We took advantage of the long days of the Nordic summer, including the summer solstice of 2025.

Used it for our recent family (including toddler) trip through India. None of us got sick, always felt reassured that our drinking and tooth brushing water was safe too! A tip: use it in conjunction with a collapsible camping cup from a company like seven seas, makes sharing the water and using it for cleaning utensils etc much more efficient.
The bottle works very well, I used it for a week-long long trekking in wilderness and was super easy to use, both to drink from and to filter water and put in another bottle. The only thing I missed is a type of strap to attach the bottle to the backpack.
I loved the bottle. It was very easy to use and handy on our trip. Great that we didn't need to boil water or buy waterbottles. We used it to drink from and also to fill cups and our friends bottles. Unfortunately it broke the last days of our trip, but we received a new one, so great service!
The product is exactly what I was looking for, when hiking and weight is important. The product is of high quality and was already used several times. However I do always recommend to pre filter water with a piece of fabric if the water is very dirty. The filter lasts longer this way.
I am a humanitarian worker, so this bottle is my daily provider of safe water. It's perfect to fit in all my bags, easy to use and I can fill the bottles of my friends and colleagues when they need.
The only problem is that the filter gets stuck quite fast and after few utilisations, stay half stuck so its hard to drink. The backwards seringe doesn't work well (just less that a 1/4 of water can be aspired insided) and I can't find information on how to proceed in a better way. I was recommended to blow in the filter after each utilisation but I can't find anymore this information in your site. Also there is no information about conservation for less than 1 month, when I don't use it for a week or two for example. Would be better to dry it, keep it wet? I wrote to the email "remy@" but the answer was not satisfying, nothing new.
Solving these problems would make this bottle close to perfection.
The only additional thing would be to filter virus and heavy metals because in the countries I live, I am exposed to them and none of your bottles can filter them I think.
